Clean Air — B.C. Wildfires and Your Health
Dr Michael Mehta, environmental social scientist from Thompson Rivers University, focused on community resistance, resiliency, social innovation and citizen science. Forty residents came out and heard his ‘top 10’ actions to reduce health risks from PM2.5 particularly from wood smoke, as well as details of the Purple Air initiative, a global network of accurate air measurement instruments inexpensive enough to install at home.
Dr. Mehta is Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies, specializing in science, technology and society with a focus on environmental and health risks. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Thompson Rivers University.
