As far as green buildings are concerned...

The US GREEN BUILDING Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design 
(USGB -LEED) might be useful

USGB-LEED Standards and Best Management Practices are worth 
incorporating into any building/structure in an environmentally sensitive area.

FYI:
Renascence Developments Corporation are committed to adopting and 
using some of these standards and best management practices of USGB 
-LEED for the Wood Lake Resort development project...at the south end 
of Wood Lake in Lake Country (Winfield).

The lower reach of Winfield Creek where its mouth enters Wood Lake 
runs through this property.

The property used to be a trailer park.

RDC are treating Winfield Creek as it cross their property as "an amenity".

Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd., Rebekka Lindskoog, is 
responsible for the fish habitat design for Winfield Creek where it 
crosses the RDC property.

In June 2006 RDC came to an Oceola Fish & Game Club board meeting and 
requested a number of directors to act as an nvironmental oversight 
committee for the Wood Lake Resort project....and to also include 
First Nations - from OFGC the volunteers were:  Robert Schouten; Nina 
Armitage; Vern Webb; Ron Taylor and myself, appointed as chair and 
from Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) Keith Louis.

We review and comment in writing on all relevant documents; walk the 
site; document and offer constructive suggestions that actually get 
listened to and dealt with...

We have been successful in getting RDC to see that the watershed is 
an integrated entity - upstream from their site to the headwaters of 
Winfield Creek is just as significant as their small 350 meter piece 
at the mouth..

RDC are funding a sensitive habitat & inventory mapping (SHIM) survey 
of the Winfield Creek watershed ...the survey includes a detailed 
riparian area and in-stream survey, photographic records, computer 
files and reports...identifying the good, the bad and the 
ugly....from headwaters to mouth...ie: a watershed 
survey....thankfully it's a small watershed....about 2 kilometers long.
