[LookOutSugarLake] Sewage disposal in the D/E OCP

At the EASC meeting today (Tuesday Jan.23), one order of business is an 
amendment to the sewage disposal policies of the NORD Areas 'D' and 'E' 
OCP. The recommendation reads: "Electoral Areas 'D' and 'E' Official 
Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 2223, 2007 be forwarded to the 
Regional Board for 1st and 2nd readings and referred to Public Hearing; 
and for consideration from the Regional Board as to which 
municipalities, agencies and organizations should be consulted with 
respect to this Official Community Plan amendment and whether 
opportunities for consultation should be early and ongoing."

There is a special meeting of the Regional Board this same day to, among 
other things, receive the recommendation, with a motion to direct staff 
to prepare the amending bylaw to be submitted to public hearing.

I don't know what the text of the amendment is, but I guess we can wait 
for the public hearing to check it out prior to enactment. The gist of 
it will  presumably be to refuse development and/or building permits 
which include discharge of effluent to watercourses within those Areas. 
Hopefully also the other E.A.s will be advised to follow suit.
