Hi Jeanne,
Nice to see you are involved in this, but I have to wonder why you are
upset with Mike Reiner. As an employee, he really has no choice but to
comply with the legislation. Even if he quit, the next employee would
follow the legislation, too.
The Regional District directors had the only opportunity to stop the
application (under the new regulations). If Eugene had voted "no", other
directors would have supported him, and that would have been the end of
it.
Neither Rick Fairbairn or Eugene Foisey seem to be on this list!
Bye for now, Nick

Dear Mike,
For the life of me I don’t understand what it takes to get politicians
to do their jobs. I truly don’t get it. I grew up believing that the
politicians were the voice of the people, elected officials that stood
up for their constituents. This clearly is not the case.
In this day and age I find it appalling that anyone is allowed to
discharge sewage into any water system. It is just not necessary.
After all the opposition to this particular development, I don’t
understand your “it’s out of my hands” bullshit. The application was in
compliance- WHAT?????- He lied on his application! I don’t know about
your compliance rules but any I’ve had to follow were null and void if
the person lied on the application. So that’s how you do it eh? Just
lie on an application and then because you say what the powers that be
want, it just gets passed and there’s no way to stop it? Isn’t that why
we have governments, to make sure stuff like this doesn’t happen. The
BC Government is always on the news, we’re doing this and that for the
environment. That’s great, I applaud their efforts. But what one hand
is giving, the other is taking away!
This is clearly an issue that is NOT going to go away. There are too
many pissed off people. Maybe you think that we are a bunch of hicks
living out in a rural community and that we will give up. I think you
have no idea who you are dealing with, we are used to that mentally out
here. We don’t want this to happen and if we can’t stop it from
happening this time, we will follow through and make sure it can’t
happen in the future. The other Regional District Reps all the way down
the Shuswap River have made new rules just because of this situation.
If our Regional Districts can change the rules, why can’t you- or better
yet- why don’t you want to?
