[LookOutSugarLake] Logging in Riparian Zone #2

Good day,

As a follow up to last week's email regarding the logging being done
at Sugar Lake by Kokanee Lodge, here are more pictures - the
photographer also took measurements and attests that logging is being
done at 10 - 15 metres at most, from the high water mark. Since land
is being cleared for the installation of a sewage system, this
presents a double concern.

Sugar Lake And Middle Shuswap Stewards (SLAMSS) are strongly opposed
to any effluent entering the lake and river. This opposition was made
very clear in all comments made to ILMB, NORD, and the Province. These
photos seem to indicate that effluent produced by Lookout (the
proposed development at Kokanee Lodge) will definitely enter the lake,
and will do so rapidly, which is not an acceptable alternative to
having the effluent enter the lake via a pipe. As a matter of fact we
see very little difference except that this new method also involves
the destruction of wooded areas in a riparian zone.

Huguette Allen.
