Hi all,

Hot enough? enjoying the water?

TWO very important things regarding protecting Sugar Lake and the
Middle Shuswap.

1. A SLAMSS supporter suggested we ask to have Sugar Lake declared a
provincial or national Park. There are grizzlies around there and is
one of the last pristine places around. Since there is a plan to have
a park in the south Okanagan, this might be well received. Can anyone
find out how to start this process? Research could start by calling
Patrick Allen at the Allen Brooks Nature Centre since he's aware of
this or to google south okanagan park.

I believe this is something that SLAMSS could work on but I need help
getting it going.

2. Please call Forest and Range in Vernon at 250-558-1700 to tell them
there are now cattle in the valley bottom around Sugar Lake whereas
this was never allowed in the past. You probably will get transferred
to Rob Dinwoodie, who has already been contacted and is aware of the
problem but needs to hear it from others. We are all desperately
trying to work at keeping the water clean so this recent happening
must not be allowed to continue.

For more info on this issue please email Gayle Rowan at gaylerowan at telus.net
  - and please keep me informed as to what happens or even if nothing
happens. It's important to know so we can proceed further.

Huguette.
