169813 - Sugar Lake Subdivision
Thank you for your recent e-mail expressing concerns about the status of
a Proposed Subdivision Preliminary Layout Approval for a development at
Sugar Lake.
My ministry issued non-approval for this subdivision on January 31,
2007, as the subdivision did not have suitable road access or approval
from Interior Health for septic facilities. There were also ten
additional conditions that the developer needed to address before my
ministry could issue approval. To date, my ministry has not received
information or documentation to demonstrate all the requirements have
been met.
Building or clearing activities undertaken on private land fall outside
my ministry's jurisdiction. The regional district has land use bylaws
in place that govern those activities.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, feel free to contact
Dave Turner, my ministry's Deputy Approving Officer for our Okanagan
Shuswap District. You can reach him at 250 503-3606 or by e-mail at
Dave.Turner at gov.bc.ca.
Thank you again for taking the time to write.
Best regards,
Kevin Falcon
Minister

Greetings,
I am writing to request information on the status of a proposal for a
shared interest resort on Sugar Lake, your file number 02-013-18954 for
which approval was withheld in January 2007.
The developer is currently logging in the riparian zone of land acquired
from the Crown to do a septic field. I find it surprising that he can
begin work since the 10 conditions imposed in the letter you wrote last
year have not been met.
Should you require quick reference to a copy of that letter, please
visit

I would appreciate knowing where this stands.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Huguette Allen
