No-Wake Flotilla

Sun, Jul. 29, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Grindrod Park - Hwy97A

The Lower Shuswap Stewardship Society invites you to join the 3rd Annual  Shuswap River No-Wake Flotilla. The launch will take place at Grindrod Park, 10 km north of Enderby on Highway 97A.  Boaters will travel to Mara Provincial Park. All non-motorized craft are welcome to participate, however, this section of river is not suitable for tubes or other floaties.  The paddle will take approximately 4 hours.  Paddlers looking for a shorter trip can join the group at Mara Bridge at approximately 12:00 PM.

There will be a shuttle service available in the morning from Mara Provincial Park back to Grindrod Park.  This will allow you to drop your boat off at Grindrod Park and then leave your vehicle at Mara Park. Shuttles will leave Mara Park at 9:15 and 9:45.

The intention of the No-Wake Flotilla is to draw attention to the many low impact ways to enjoy the Shuswap River.  The Lower Shuswap River attracts many powerboat users and the large boat wakes cause serious bank erosion and turbidity along the shoreline. Noise and boat wakes also disturb fish and waterfowl.  The No-Wake Flotilla seeks to heighten awareness among the power-boating community of the damaging effects of boat wakes and noise.

We would like to make this year’s flotilla a visual spectacle and welcome your ideas and creativity.  Banners?  Drumming? Decorated boats?

There will be more details sent out as we get closer to the date. For more information about this event, contact Jessica Washtock at 250-838-2177 or
