Tuesday evening Feb. 12, Cherryville residents opened the opportunity to lead other RDNO communities in choosing to be the first to ban GM crops.

More than a hundred people showed up at the Cherryville hall last night to get information and to decide whether they want a resolution passed, banning GMO crops, as has been accomplished in 10 other BC municipalities.

The conference features informative workshops on a variety of topics including: permaculture practices, biodynamics, organic farming education, succession planning, post-harvest handling, marketing, software products for small-scale farms and many more.

The conference is open to the public and includes a variety of registration options for one session to the entire weekend.

Lucy Sharratt of the Canadian Biotechnology Action Network (CBAN) will deliver the keynote address to the conference. She has extensive experience as a researcher and campaigner with organizations concerned about genetic engineering and global justice.
