Our 5th annual event! For kids too; short, easy, but cost effective demos for foods, sachets, toys, knitting, kids’ toys, candles, soaps(with ‘take-home’ instructions).

Let’s get away from consumerism and put the heart back in the holidays!  Schubert Centre’s Thrift Store and cafe was also open.

We added a Supply Swap table this year, so surplus craft supplies and/or creative items to re-purposewere donated and/or swapped.

Gillian Browning (Sunfire Systems Ltd., Lumby) has lived off the grid and worked in the solar energy business for over 20 years. She discussed how “Off Grid” works, compare to a grid tie (with BC Hydro or Fortis BC), noting the advantages and disadvantages.

Information tables on other solar options were also present.

SENS teamed up with UBCO, CFUW, and other groups to bring in Seth Kline, a Director of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, to speak on how climate injustice aligns with Income Inequality.

Can BC become carbon-zero and generate 1000’s of good green jobs? Seth Klein shared key findings and policy solutions of the Climate Justice Project, highlighting how we can do this with fairness and equality
