Sustainability Film Fest is coming to Vernon in February. It’s free, on Thursdays 6:30 – 9:00 PM at the Vernon Library.

Everyone is welcome (bring the neighbours!) to view documentaries and take part in discussion with local experts “in the know”.

February 4: Aina: That Which Feeds Us –a  documentary on environmental and health problems faced by the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i, complete with their  suggestions for solutions. Also get a sneak preview of a British documentary partly filmed in Vernon last summer!

February 11: Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story – filmmakers Jen and Grant look at the $ billions in food waste from farms, food stores and even their own fridge. They pledge to live waste free by surviving on discarded food (NO grocery shopping or eating in restaurants!) and what they find is truly shocking.  Bindiving 101?!?

February 18: How To Change The World –learn how Greenpeace and the modern ‘green’ movement started, complete with action video from early ventures, Greenpeace’s growing pains, and balancing political vs personal problems. One of Greenpeace’s founders lives in Vernon!

February  25: Living Small: A Tiny House Documentary – explore with Anderson Page the challenges and rewards of building his own tiny(ish) living space. Can you live more with less?

Sponsors are RDNO, Okanagan Regional Library and SENS. Look forward to another Sustainability Film Fest next fall!
