S.E.N.S. Events (June)

  1. CARE (Climate Action Ripple Effect) Community Climate Expo: May 26, 4 – 8 pm was a busy event for SENS volunteers.  Thank-you to Sheila, Janet, Deb, Hannah, and Terry for all their help at the SENS educational booth. Our posties-oriented set-up generated hundreds of valuable comments from the public - suggestions for city actions as well as what we citizens are already doing for our environment, air quality, waer, and more. An energizing evening!

  2. CARE Student Project Presentations: May 27th,  9 – 2,  also at the Curling Rink, 60 judges engaged with many students (115 projects!) from various high schools in the area as they spoke eloquently about their climate change mitigation or adaptation project. Three awards each were given to the top 3 from the grades 7 – 9 and the 10 – 12 groupings. Keep tuned in to media for the winner list! All projects were brilliantly done!

Call to Action

  2. Tell the Minister of Transport to stop ocean dumping and get serious about protecting our oceans. Add your name to the petition, here.

Worth the watch

  1. The Most Efficient Greenhouse on Earth. $100 a year to heat in -40C. Could this technology heat our homes? To watch the Global News clip, go here.

  2. Your garden’s carbon footprint isn’t as small as you may think. Urban agriculture has a much larger footprint than traditional agriculture. Follow the link to watch the full CBC story.
