  2. Caravan Farm Theatre offers Land Based Learning Field Trips. They are booking field trips for two age groups in May and early June for students in the Shuswap and North Okanagan.   3. Incentives for energy retrofits in multi-unit residential buildings. The City of Vernon hasn’t yet developed specific incentives for our area, however, there are some financial incentives through BC Hydro.   5. Coldstream’s Mackie Lake House Earth Day event, April 13th. To celebrate sustainability, they will offer a fully vegan tea service. Guests are encouraged to wear their favourite thrifted outfits. Tickets, $55, here.

Provincial

  1. Pollinators of BC. Understanding our local pollinators in crucial in protecting our ecosystems in BC. Here is a link to Simon Fraser University’s BC pollinator info.

  2. BC to scrap the provincial consumer carbon tax. BC residents should see a drop-in fossil fuel costs starting April 1. The government promises to shift to “big industrial emitters” to incentivize lower carbon technologies. For the full CBC story, go here.
