Kelsey Wheelhouse

Kelsey Wheelhouse is an employment lawyer at Davidson Lawyers.

Kelsey became concerned about climate change after experiencing persistent wildfire smoke. As a mother with two young children (Quinn and Olive), she became concerned about the impacts of wildfire smoke on her children’s health and began looking for advice and information. Since then, Kelsey has become an advocate for clean air, healthy families, and actively promotes the installation of real-time air quality monitors called PurpleAir monitors: www.purpleair.com. As a result of her efforts, an air quality monitor has been installed on East Hill, Silver Star Mountain, and the Lavington Life Society has committed to installing more than 10 air quality monitors in Coldstream. The monitors provide real-time air quality readings which are available free to the public.

To raise awareness about the impacts of poor air quality on human health, Kelsey is a regular presenter, writes newspaper articles, and has contributed to a three-part series in the Vernon Morning Star called Smokanagan.

Kelsey is a Director for the Sustainable Environment Network Society and is a Climate Change Ambassador for the City of Vernon. She is the proud owner of an electric cargo bike and enjoys commuting by bicycle with her young family.
