  1. A Night of Hope – We CAN do it! With Seth Klein, September 18th, 7 pm, Vernon’s Performing Arts Centre. Seth’s focus is on ‘Mobilizing Canada for the Climate Emergency”.

    As author of “A Good War: Mobilizing Canada for the Climate Emergency”, Seth has researched and written for decades on solutions to the complex problems we increasingly face, for Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) and for his class work at Simon Fraser University. He provides clear thinking and ideas for improving our natural and built environment as we combat this global climate crisis.

  1. Help Stop Grizzly Bear Trophy Hunting! The B.C. government plans harmful changes to grizzly bear management. Valhalla Wilderness Society urges you to write a letter to the government right away to oppose these changes! To read more, go here.

  2.  Help Stop Deep-Sea Mining: The deep sea is a mysterious place of biodiversity and possibilities. Deep-sea mining is a catastrophic threat to one of the last untouched places on Earth. Please add your name to help stop deep-sea mining!

  3.  Ask Your City Council for Eco-friendly Apartments: These eco-friendly apartments are good for the planet and good for the community; deeply affordable too! Consider writing to your council asking for these standards for affordable housing where you live.

  4.  Fracking and LNG: There is a great need to reduce global (and B.C.’s)  greenhouse gases for the health of all living beings on the planet by switching to alternative energy sources such as heat pumps.

    a) The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) is greatly concerned with the health implications related to our provincial government’s action on fracking and LNG expansion.     c) Ask the B.C. NDP to Include Emissions from Fracking in its Net-Zero Regulations! Submit a comment here .

    d) Vancouver is planning to phase out use of natural gas – should happen all over BC!

    e) Heat pumps: 200 – 500+ % efficiency; oil/gas furnaces – maximum 98% efficiency….Heat pumps are clean, have very low greenhouse gas emissions, save money… Read more
